Evans PTA Helped Bring Technology to our Classrooms!

Last year, through various fundraising efforts in the 2nd half of the year, we were able to meet our goal of raising enough money to purchase 2 ActivBoards for the classrooms of Evans, which were installed this past summer.  Thanks to all of you for your contributions, participation, and volunteerism!  

There are 7 more ActivBoards needed to furnish every academic classroom in Evans.  At the September PTA meeting, we will be voting to continue the PTA Technology Initiative for the 2012-2013 school year and designate a set of new fundraisers, with the goal of raising $9,000 to purchase 4 ActivBoards this year!

Technology Fundraisers being planned for 2012-2013:
Several new fundraisers are being planned for the Technology Initiative and will be voted on at the September 2012-2013 PTA meeting.  These include:

1. Dine-Out Nights - On Dine-Out nights, families can go out to each at a local restaurant once each month, and a portion of sales will be donated to Evans PTA. 
2. Market Day Monthly Grocery Program - Market Day is a monthly grocery program where families purchase delicious and quick prepared food items online, and a portion of all sales goes to Evans PTA.  We will also be coordinating a Market Day Pie Sale in the fall.
3. Gift Card Fundraiser - Twice a year, the Evans PTA will hold a gift card fundraiser to sell gift cards to hundred of stores, restaurants, and other organizations, and the PTA receives a portion of all sales.  
4. Riversharks Night - It was such a success last year, we're planning on bringing it back in 2012-2013!  
5. TD Bank Affinity Program - This is an easy way for our school to earn "free money".  If you currently have an individual or business TD Bank account, you can signup to be a part of the Affinity program and Evans receives an annual conbtribution from TD Bank depending on the balances in the accounts that are in the program for Evans.  There is no cost and Evans will receive no individual or personal information on accounts.
6. ShoeBox Recycling - The PTA is coordinating a Shoe Recycling program, which is a great way that we can recycle and help the envirnment, as well as earn funds for our school.  Shoe boxes are placed in several stores throughout the town as well as the Evans school Atrium.  Families place old shoes in the boxes, and then they are sent to the recycling organization, and Evans earns $0.50 for every pound of shoes collected!
7. Drink Pouch Recycling Brigade - The Drink Pouch Brigade is a great way that we can recycle and help the envirnment, as well as earn funds for our school.   Drink pouches will be collected from 1) families sending them in from home and 2) lunches in the cafeteria.  We will earn $.02 for every drink pouch collected!
8. Techzel Pretzel Sale - The Techzel fundraiser is a pretzel that can bring more technology into Evans school! The PTA is sponsoring a Philly Pretzel Factory fundraiser for 10 weeks. Each Friday afternoon on sale days in the Spring, hot pretzels will be delivered to Evans School for the kids to enjoy. Parents sign up ahead of time and just pay one small fee to secure a pretzel for their child.
9. Staff Volleyball Tournament vs. VanZant Vuppets - New in 2011-2012 school year, this event was amazing!  This will be an annual event where Evans Critters take on the VanZant Vuppets in a staff volleyball tournament.  Tickets will be sold in advance.
10. Art to Remember Fundraiser - In the Spring, the PTA will be conducting a fundraiser that turns our children's' artwork into items that can be treasured forever, including mugs, calendars, mousepads, magnets, and much more!
11. 5 Below - In February, the PTA is planning to conduct a fundraiser with 5 Below, where 10% of all sales will benefit the Evans PTA Technology Initiative.
